Geologist with 49 years of international exploration experience including detailed knowledge of Tienshan geology and mineral deposits. Executive VP for Ivanhoe Mines Limited from 1995-2012. Led the discovery team for the super-giant Hugo Dummet deposit at Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia.

Previous director of Jinshan Gold and a founding non-executive Director of Ivanhoe Australia. Currently the acting CEO of Realgold Corp and an independent consulting geologist working on projects in the Philippines, Peru, South Korea and the Kyrgyz Republic. Co-recipient of the 2004 PDAC’s Thayer Lindsley Award For Best International Mineral Discovery.

 

David Rhys

DAVID RHYS

Technical Advisor

Mr. Rhys is a consulting geologist with over 25 years of experience in the mining industry applying geological studies with a structural focus to exploration, development and mining. Mr. Rhys has extensive experience in gold deposits, having worked globally on numerous gold districts of various types for a variety of clients including both major and junior companies. He has conducted direct, field-based geological studies on deposits which collectively contain over 600 million ounces of gold and over 2 billion ounces of Ag, including the major deposits of the Carlin Trend and region; most producing and historical mines in the Southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt (Timmins deposits, Canadian Malartic, Kirkland Lake Macassa, Detour Lake, Val d'Or); several major epithermal deposits (e.g. Pueblo Viejo, Yanacocha, Round Mountain, Waihi, Kupol, Guanajuato); and in orogenic gold districts in Africa (e.g. Chirano, Damang, Sabodala, Fekola), Mexico (La Herradura), western North America and Australia (Fosterville, Pine Creek district). In addition, Mr. Rhys has broad experience in uranium deposits of the Athabasca Basin, porphyry systems, and VMS deposits. His focus is on advanced projects and active mining operations, aiding in the interpretation of mine site ore controls and applications of mine geology to local and district scale exploration activities. Mr. Rhys also provides training to geological teams to aid in the application of consistent and relevant data collection, and of field based interpretive methods to clients’ technical staff.

 

James Maxwell

JAMES MAXWELL

Technical Advisor

Mr. Maxwell is a professional geoscientist with over 20 years of industry experience with a focus on exploration and development of orogenic gold discoveries, and has been part of discovery teams responsible for five major gold discoveries in Nunavut and Red Lake, Ontario. He is currently the VP Exploration for First Mining Gold and was previously with Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. as Director of Exploration where he helped establish a 6Moz gold resource base from discovery to the feasibility study level. Prior to working in Nunavut, Mr. Maxwell established an early career in the Birch-Uchi and Red Lake Greenstone belts where his team earned a Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association Discovery of the Year Award for the Rahill-Bonanza discovery. He is a long-standing member of the PDAC Health & Safety Committee and was a recent speaker for the 2019 Newgen Gold Conference held in Perth, Australia. James holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba with a focus on geological sciences and is registered with the Professional Geoscientists Ontario (“PGO”) and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (“NAPEG”).
